World Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles (WASBE) is the only international organization of wind band conductors, composers, performers, publishers, teachers, instrument makers and friends of wind music. The main goals of the swiss section of WASBE is to promote swiss symphonic band and wind ensemble repertoire, but also swiss musicians and talents to the world. Our association is related to the WASBE International Association.

Die World Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles (WASBE) ist die einzige internationale Organisation von Blasmusikdirigenten, Komponisten, Interpreten, Verlegern, Lehrern, Instrumentenbauern und Freunden der Blasmusik. Das Hauptziel der Schweizer Sektion der WASBE ist es, das Repertoire der Schweizer Blasorchester und Bläserensembles, aber auch die Schweizer Musiker und Talente in der Welt zu fördern. Unser Verein ist mit der WASBE International Association verbunden.

La World Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles (WASBE) est la seule organisation internationale regroupant des chefs d’orchestre d’instruments à vent, des compositeurs, des interprètes, des éditeurs, des enseignants, des facteurs d’instruments et des amis de la musique à vent. L’objectif principal de la section suisse de la WASBE est de promouvoir le répertoire des orchestres d’harmonie et des ensembles à vent suisses, mais aussi les musiciens et les talents suisses dans le monde. Notre association est liée à la WASBE International Association.

Announcement : Adrian Schneider WASBE Committee

The Swiss Section presents its candidate for the next elections to the International WASBE-Board.

Adrian Schneider studied trumpet in Bern. Following his studies he conducted the Ensemble de Cuivres Euphonia and was principal trumpet of the Swiss Youth Symphony Orchestra and the Orchestre Philharmonie Suisse. In 2003 he became principal trumpet of the Beijing Symphony Orchestra where he played with an interruption, during which he held positions in Switzerland as principal conductor of the symphonic Wind Orchestra „Landwehr de Fribourg“ and as assistant professor for trumpet at the Bern and Lucerne Conservatories of Music. Additionally he later accepted a professorship at the China Conservatory in trumpet and chamber music.

In 2010, he founded the Dunshan Symphonic Wind Orchestra, the only privately funded professional orchestra in China. He served as its artistic director for ten years and significantly influenced the development of wind music in China. With the orchestra he produced numerous records highlighting music by Swiss composers such as Stephan Hodel and Mario Bürki.

After returning to Switzerland, Adrian has once again dedicated himself to a diverse career as a freelance musician. He is the musical director of the Brass Band Fribourg, solo trumpeter in the ensemble « Le Buisson Prosperant » and member of the music commission of the Swiss Brass Band Association.
